What is it, that PowerBall?
It looks like a gadget, but it is a serious training aid! The PowerBall was developed in the USA, ordered by NASA. Since astronauts cannot use weights in zero gravity, they wanted to create a training aid that could also be used in space. With the aid of the newest theories in the science of movement therapies, the PowerBall was developed. The PowerBall does not use regular weights like other devices, but uses centrifugal force. This makes the force of the PowerBall variable and adjusts to the training level of the user. The generated circuitous force is about 15 kilo grams at 10,000 rpm!
How does the PowerBall work?
The rotor within the PowerBall spins around its axis, while the axis itself spins at 90° inside the PowerBall.
Imagine a glass of water, with an ice cube, spinning around an imaginary axis. When you take the glass in your hand and spin it, the ice cube itself will make a second type of motion, turning left or right ways around the (also imaginary) axis of the glass.
This motion generates the scraping sound, which reveals that the axis is in motion within the heart of the PowerBall. By spinning the PowerBall faster and faster, the rotor will pick up speed. The lighted PowerBalls are mounted with 6 LEDs, that light up when the rotor is spinning. 2 LEDs are mounted on both sides of the rotor, and within the heart of the rotor, another 2 LEDs can be found. The faster you spin, the more light is being produced. The rotor slid is transformed into a beautiful enlightened stripe, in the color of the PowerBall.
The
PowerBall Techno is for those people who cannot resist “high tech”. Only the Techno has a black rotor, with 7 LEDs. These LEDs (6 red, and one blue) project texts and the RPM. Get the Techno up to speed and place it in the palm of your opened hand, or keep it in the air by the
wriststrap . At speeds over 8,000 rpm, the PowerBall projects the highest speeds that you have managed to achieve. The PowerBall Techno is such an ingenious design, that nobody has succeeded in duplicating it. A technical master piece!

The NSD PowerBall is also available in a complete steal version: The
SUPERPOWERBALL . This version has a rotor and housing, made of high quality steal. These parts are subsequently chromed. With the
SUPERPOWERBALL Gold , the chrome is replaced by 18-karat gold. The SUPERPOWERBALL Gold is shipped with a
certificate of authenticity , released by the IPA (International PowerBall Association).
Both versions of the SUPER, are shipped with
spare-parts . By the extra weight of the SUPERPOWERBALL, the generated forces are significantly higher. Spinning it at 10,000 rpm, will feel like your arm being ripped off.
The PowerBall functions without the use of batteries. It is being driven nor by muscle power. In the heart of the PowerBall is the rotor (see animation above). When it is set in motion, a spin impulse is generated around the axis. This is comparable to riding a bike: the faster you ride, the more stable your ride gets. With higher speeds, more power is needed for steering.
With exception of the Techno, all PowerBalls can be mounted with a
Digital Counter . The counter displays the following information:
• The total number of revolutions that the rotor has spun.
• The present speed
• The highest speed that the rotor has ever spun.
• The number of revolutions in 30, 60, and 90 seconds (endurance level).

 Cross-cut
The synthetic PowerBall has a diameter of 7.1 centimeter and is slightly smaller compared to the SUPERPOWERBALL.
Weight
The PowerBall with synthetic housing weigh approximately 260 grams. The steal versions close to 500 grams.
Dynamics
The core of the PowerBall moves, by rotating the wrist. The faster the PowerBall is being spun, the larger the force that is being created. Depending on the type, the PowerBall can generate up to 18 kilo grams of torsion, 15,000 rpm.
Function
The PowerBall is extremely effective to enlarge the power in your fingers, wrist, and arm. Furthermore, while training with the PowerBall, the blood flow is increased, the ligaments are strengthened, and sport related injuries are diminished.
Effects
By training regularly with the PowerBall, your performance in multiple sports can increase. Sports that require a firm “grip”, or good coordination, the PowerBall is essential.
Benefits
The PowerBall is no larger than a tennis ball, and therefore fits in every pocket. Also in the dashboard locker of the car, there always room for a PowerBall. Thereby the PowerBall always within your reach. It obviously advised against using the PowerBall while driving, but in a traffic jam, or on a ferry, the PowerBall is a welcome aid to kill the time.
The PowerBall can also be used while walking, watching TV and in public transportation. Since the PowerBall can be used everywhere, you can have good results within a short period of time. Almost everybody can train with the PowerBall, no matter what age, or physical condition.
Technical aspects
The balance of the rotors of all PowerBalls are up to one hundredth of a millimeter accurately corrected, by a computer. Therefore the ball has an excellent stability.*
Surrounding the ball is a silicon rubber band, to prevent the ball from slipping out of your hand. This band moreover feels comfortable. The Powerball is made of quality synthetic material. The axis of the rotor is made out of steal, and is virtually unbreakable.
Patent
The PowerBall is a patented product, and therefore the original gyro exerciser. Only the original PowerBall has a core and axis of steal. The difference is apparent straight away, and an iron core is absolutely insufficiently durable for a flawless functioning of the gyro!
* The PowerBall is solid, and can almost not be broken. Dropping the PowerBall on a hard surface can lead to an inaccurately spinning rotor. This causes an imbalance, and ticking sound.
